This is our forth screen grab so far, it is the first shot of Lola's face this close up shot of Lola's face gives her prevalence and informs the audience that her role is important. This is also the moment of the trailer where we realise Lola has just woken up from the dream hence the scene is clearer but also has a dimmer light than the last scene of the blurry dream sequence at the beach.

Behind the scenes of creating the montage of Lola and Riki.
We filmed this scene outside on Heathfields close road, we wanted to get a variation of outdoors shots. We decided that we would make use of the small fields and trees on the private road that I live on as it would provide us with the background that we needed while also helped avoid any strangers interrupting or getting caught on scene as we filmed it on a private road.
Marmalady draft film poster
This is our first complete draft for our film poster We have chosen Marmaldy as the title for our film for now.
In our first draft we only have the protagonist Lola in the image we may keep it that way in our new updated poster or we might change it to having other prominent characters on the poster depending on what looks best. We used the "Shady lane" font for our first draft movie title as we thought it connoted the "indie" coming of age genre the best and it also stands out the best. We have included al of the actors names on the top of the film poster.creating our poster
We mostly took pictures of Lola as she is the protagonist.By having her as the main focus on the film poster it will suggest her importance to the audience since the story revolves around her life. We used a green scene when taking pictures for our film poster as we intend on editing our film poster background and the green screen makes it more convenient as the colour green is easier to edit on. I am wearing the same pair of glasses I wear in the school stairs scene therefore the representation of Lola in the beginning is the version of Lola that is presented on the film poster.I pulled various facial expressions that connoted stress, confusion and deep thoughtfulness by frowning crossing my arms and looking to the side. These facial expressions are effective in demonstrating Lola's personality and situation through out this film where she faces common struggles and insecurities.
Practising different fonts for our movie Title
We experimented with different fonts for our movie titles which are the most conventional to our coming of age genre. Some of the fancy fonts such as "Dear Annabelle" connotes femininity whereas fonts like Shady lane are bold and can stand out more to the audience.
Behind the scenes picture
This is the behind the scenes picture of me playing Lola in the school stairs scene.
We chose to use two props which was a book and a pair of glasses these props connote intelligence but also represents Lola as a "Nerd" a negative stereotype for intelligent studious teenager. We also tied my hair back and I wore very dull colours such as grey and dark blue so that it highlights how Lola is unnoticed. The opposite of glamorous popular teen girls that are represented in other movies for example "mean girls".
Editing the party scene
This a behind the scenes short video of me editing the party scene for our trailer I was cutting the scenes and putting them together in order to create a quick montage of the party clips. Having fast paced scenes creates a sense of adrenalin. It also helps keep the trailer quick and snappy so that it is conventional.
Part 2 of our movie trailer soundtrack by Gabriel paulielo
We had our film trailer soundtrack created by Gabriel Paulielo. Here he is playing the intro of the song which is featured in the beginning of the trailer during the instituion titles/dream sequence and other parts.
Costume prep behind the scenes
Our costume for the door scene between Lola and Riki
We wanted to achieve an awkward mood in this scene by making Lola our protagonist look unpolished and funny. We decided to put pink rollers in my hair and I put on my pink robe which connotes that she has come out of a shower and is naked under the Robe. The rollers also suggest that Lola is preparing her look and does not always look good. In this picture it seems that I am naked under my robe but actually I wasn't I was not wearing shirt other than the robe but I was wearing trousers and socks however when we shot this scene we shot in a close medium shot that only showed from waist upwards so that the audience can't see my bottom half. Therefore implying that I am naked under the robe. This costume was very easy to create as it is belongings most girls will have in their home. The robe and rollers were mine so I did not have to buy any extra equipment. This scene links back with the first scene of Lola waking up and stepping out of bed where we see her wearing only one sock. This combination of shots represent Lola as imperfect which is what we want to show her as so that the audience can sympathize with her and find humour out of her.Wednesday, 21 December 2016
Cinematic Camera Angles & Movement
This video was very useful in giving me insight towards representing relationships between characters using camera angles and placements. He explains how our subconscious can immediately interpret the story depending on the choice of camera angle and movement.
Our movie soundtrack by Gabriel Paulielo
This is Gabriel Paulielo practising our trailer soundtrack that we play during the beginning of our trailer.
Third screen grab
Our third screen grab of our film trailer so far is the dream sequence opening shot of Lola and her love interest in the sea. We filmed this again at West Wittering beach in the summer. We blurred the image so that the audience can only make out the basics of the figures but not details in order to achieve a sense of illusion and false reality.
Second screen grab
This is our second screen grab so far. This is the introduction of our institution title connoting that this is our film trailer. We layered our institution title on top of the video we took of the waves in West Wittering beach. Our film trailer soundtrack that Gabriel created for us fades in and increases in volume in the shot. We intend to overlap the institution title shots with the voice over narrative of Lola.
First screengrab
This is our first screen-grab from our movie trailer where it shows the rating certificate. We decided to use paint software to create our own individualised one so that we can edit words such as "indie filmmaker association of surrey" to relate to us. We clearly show the certificate of the rating being 15 as we believe this is the most appropriate age certificate for our target audience.

Stereotypes of Teens in coming of age movies
Popular girl
we usually find one of the prominent characters in coming of age films is the Popular girl that others admire and wish to be.This character is usually portrayed as powerful, independent, rebellious divas that are always concerned with their appearance. These stereotypes have been used several time in successful films such as the classic "Mean girls" "Clueless" and "Duff". this is a stereotype me and Eleanor have chosen to avoid on the solemn reason that it has been used a lot and is quite cliche.
The bad boy
This character is usually sexualised and are presented as confident, rebellious, vain and attractive. They can be either glamorised or disliked in the movie.Sometimes the main character ends up falling for the bad boy who is actually a romantic inside for instance in the film "10 things I hate about you" but they can also be rejected at the end of the movie once the main character realises they're not worth it.For Example "Clueless" We wanted to create a love interest in our movie that is not necessarily a rebellious bad boy but a popular character that obtains some of the bad boy qualities such as confidence and vanity.
Gay best friend
Gay best friends have recently become stereotypes for coming of age or even Chick flick films. They have become more acceptable in social groups and are usually portrayed as comical characters.Patrick in "the perks of being a wallflower" is a important character who is best friends with the protagonist he conforms to the stereotype of being funny as he brings the majority of the humour to the film.
The geek/weirdo
this character is usually glamorised in coming of age teen genres they tend to be the protagonist. We are made to sympathise with them as we notice their struggles with trying to fit in or receive validation by other people. The audience usually follows them on a journey as they either have a transition or they accept themselves and feel confident with themselves. This is shown in our protagonists in "Duff" "Mean girls" "she's all that" and many more. this is a stereotype me and Eleanor intended to portray through our main character Lola.
