I find this poster very conventional to the Romcom genre as there is the two main characters the man and the woman that we can infer are the love interest in the plot. The title of the film "The proposal" is in black and red ink and it hints to the reader that there will be association with marriage in this plot. The actors names are in bold ink as the headings at the top of the poster and the characters are looking directly at the audience (direct mode of address) this will engage the audience as they will recognise the actors and will be intrigued. The female is standing confidently up close to the male character. Her costume is formal and connotes importance and power her use of leaning over to him, while he is bracing himself against a wall and wears a worried expression further indicates that she has power over him.She is also holding out in front of her a ring case suggesting that she is proposing to him which shocks the audience as it subverts from the general stereotype of men traditionally being the person to propose, this again reinforces the idea of her being more dominant in this movie. Underneath the movie title subheading that reads "here comes the bribe.." this hints to the plot of the movie and the play of words reminds the audience of the saying "here comes the BRIDE" however the use of the word bribe indicates that the proposal is a bribe. This intrigues the audiences as they will want to find out why there is a bribe. In my own opinion even tho this is one of my personal favourites movies I find that the poster makes the plot too obvious and that the audience could predict the story line and resolution easily. I feel the poster does not justice to the film ,I would have done the poster differently.
