How we established genre in our trailer

The opening scene of our trailer begins with a close up shot of the waves hitting the sand as our institution title appears in a white fancy font. We also included our own Marmalady soundtrack tune which is  a soft and jolly sounding guitar string tune. This plays in the opening of our trailer altogether this connotes our coming of age genre as the imagery of a sanding beach and the jolly guitar music suggests this film will have a light hearted feel and will entertain the audience instead of scaring them where as a horror genre movie would do. Our trailer also connotes the theme of romance which links in with our coming of age genre that included aspects of romance. We use a voice over narrative of Lola our protagonist talking about herself and how she feels towards Riki "Riki was everything" this is technique that has been used in many other romcom genre films as well for instance "Notting hill" and "Bridget Jones diary". Our use of montage clips of Lola and Riki is also really useful in connoting our genre as it suggests to the audience that the fil will focus on their relationship since they are both given prevalence.
