One of the "Teen coming of age" genre conventions we wanted to follow is a typical love interest for the protagonist,this is one of the conventions that effectively engages the audience as it proposes an enigma of whether the protagonist will win their love interest or not and how their relationship will go during the film.In a fairly recent film of our genre "secret life of dorks" the love interest of Patton is immediately introduced in various slow motion shots of her. The use of slow motion is used to make the audience focus on their appearance and see it through the protagonist eyes as Patton is watching her every move intently. This effectively also presents the love interest as attractive as the camera captures their best physical traits. We also decreased the speed of our medium shot of Rikki Lola's love interest to approximately 70% to create the slow motion effect to suggest to the audience that he is attractive and important in Lola's point of view conforming to the stereotypical "Baywatch" incorporated in many mainstream films of our genre.

Have we subverted or conformed to typical stereotypes of our "Teen coming of age" movie genre.
